After "finishing" my webpage i was looking through it and realized that i did not have a submit button on my front page so after people put there log in details they would not be able to submit there details and log in so i decided to add a small submit button so they would be able to log in

i wanted to make it look nice and match the page so it would not look out of place and i played around with different fonts sizes and colors but in the end i added a button from Dreamweaver and thought although it does not match my initial designs for the page i thought it looked nice and clean and it made it very obvious how to log into the page so that is what i settled on

The screenshots are taken from my work in dream weather before and after i added the button

I also wanted to make my home page look cleaner and make it look appealing and closer to my orrigional plan so i added a blue border around the log in section i believe this makes it easier to see and makes the text fields easier to read

i think that is is a nice change i believe that the page looks much better because of this change

and the final change i have done to my website is i have taken the border away and put the cellpad and cellspace to 10 this makes it so you cannot see the border and there is a space between all of the fields and sections in the table i think this is the change i like the most because it makes the website look so much better and it was a very simple but effective change

After deciding the layout of my website i went on to inserting the text and the images to the page and i made it so it would look appealing on internet explorer i wanted to make it look clean and simple so it is very easy to use i used the table boxes to place my images and text and i linked these together to help make the website transition through the pages easily i saved all of my images videos and other data in files that were easy to navigate so i could quickly and easily drag and drop my files into dreamweaver you can see some of the images and videos i used in my work bellow.

Html forms
Using html forms means that the user can interact and save or send data to the website server or the website can have direct access to the data and this will make it so they can use the data that they receive

Navigation
To make the site easy to navigate i wanted to make the linked images / test easy to spot and easy to use the layout for my buttons was the same on each page this was to make it simple to use and to makes it easy to follow i was able to link my pages directly with the hierarchy and the matrix of the website this made it so the creation time of the website was shorter

Hierarchy
The hierarchy among the navigation of the page makes it so multiple pages are linked together this makes it easier to navigate and makes it so the user can get the page / information they need faster

Through out my website i tried to make the pages look similar with the same layout so they will be easy to navigate and i wanted to make sure they looked good when opened in internet explorer.

This is the home page where you will start when the webpage is loaded you can log in on this page and go to any of the other pages through the linked titles on the left and the logo on the top left is the home button so you can return to this page from any other page on the site

this page is the available film page where the user is able to see what movies are available and how much they will cost and they can also see the genre and the reviews that other members have submitted

this is the review page where the user can insert the film title and read the reviews from other members and they can click the button on the bottom left to submit your review of the movie for everyone else to see

this is the film trailer page where the user can see the latest trailers or they can search for a specific movies trailer using the search bar

here the user is able to insert there payment details in each of the text boxes for certain questions that the website requires this makes it so the site can take the money from the members account so they can pay for the movie(s)

Task 3: Deadline Friday 23rd May
Be able to design websites
Learners need to carry out the planning work for a multi-page, two-way interactive website.
Particular attention should be paid to making sure learners define the requirements and purpose stated in the scenario clearly and realistically. This should be completed in PowerPoint(or similar) and include the following pages annotated:
1.       Home page
2.       Available films with links to trailers
3.       Film trailer page
4.       Payment page where the user selects the film they want to ‘buy’
5.       Reviews page where the user writes their review

P2 and P3

Download speed
we have to make it so the websites have everything they need but not too much because if we put too much data on the website then it can make it take longer to load because if someone has a slow download speed they not be getting all of the data instantly so it can make it so the site runs slow and we also have to think about the file types that we use because if we use files such as vector images it will make it so they are larger than they need to be because we could use a jpeg and have the same quality for the viewer and it will be quicker to load

Device
The devices that can be used range from mobile devices and handhelds to desktops and laptops and even other devices such as smart TV's every device that you use can vary in screen size and resolution and they can have different limits on the data that they can upload and download and the information that they can process

Age of equipment
equipment will have different strengths and weaknesses and this can be affected by the age of the equipment because older equipment can have slower processing speeds and it can have worse resolution and it can have a low cap for the limit of data that it can download so some websites might not be able to load on a older computer system

Browser
the internet browser that is being used can effect the files you can use and if the browser is not compatible with the files it could cause errors during the loading process. using more user friendly and more well known browsers for example Google chrome or Firefox can sometimes solve this issue. sometimes "third party software" is required , for example if you play an internet game called runescape it requires java so to be able to play the game on the website you need to either download java or update the java you currently have

Bandwidth

bandwidth is what determines how much people can download and use the content on your website. having a bigger band width will make sure that your website can be used more however as the website owner you will also have to pay more unless you own you own dedicated servers. even if the user has amazing internet if you as the website owner have a low bandwidth it will restrict how fast the user can download content.

Hits

The more hits your website means your website has more requests to the websites server. the more people using the server the slower the website on the server will be able to run. sometimes if there is allot of traffic it can cause the site to have errors such as crashing and it can cause the site to go down so no one can use it

File types – example of usable types

not all browsers can load all file types which can cause some issues for users. this is something that the webpage creator should take into consideration when creating his page and choosing what file types to include like audio and video plus many more.

Bitmap

bitmap images use's small pixels to forma image as a whole, people use these as the images can provide a detailed image with a wide range of color. bitmaps take a while to saver because they are saving images pixel by pixel. you can tell when a image is a bitmap because when you enlarge the image it will become rather pixelated.

JPEG

JPEG images are the standard images that everyone will have access to the have a smaller size than vector images and the quality can hold up on websites so they are the most commonly used file for images on websites

Vector
Vector images are larger than JPEG images but they are smaller than Bitmap vector images have high quality so are often used as covers or the main eye catching image on a site because of how crisp they can look but they are not used through out

MP3

Mp3 is a audio file that is commonly used and is often the first format for audio you think about it is mainly used for music files, mp3 files are useful files due to them being small files and also having a good download time due to how small they are this makes it so if you are allowing people to download the files from your website mp3 are small so it will take longer before the websites download limit is reached

AVI

AVI files are video files, they are used on windows software mainly. these file types do not take up alot of memory which make AVI the preferred file type to the SWF file type.
As the creator of the website you will have to consider that the more there is for the user to download the more time it will take for them to get on the website and even make the website run slower than other perhaps competitive websites.

Hacking

hacking is a big problem for websites especially those that have there customers personal details such as eBay that is why there are many methods to stop people from getting access to the data for example the site can have fire walls that can stop any malicious software that is trying to gain access to the customer information

Identity theft

identity theft is when someone takes the personal information of someone else and the can use this to get into there personal files and gain information such as bank details and personal emails this can cause problems with information being shared with a 3rd party and money could be taken from your accounts so websites will need to be ready for things such as identity theft so they can stop it this can be done through firewalls and SSL

Viruses

viruses are usually found in downloadable files or emails that you find around the internet.(of course at the time no one knows they are viruses hence why people open them and get the viruses) viruses can cripple your computer or even just slow down the speed at which your computer works.

Firewalls

a firewall acts as your computers barrier against any software it views as a potential threat to the computers health. it also give you the option to switch on and off the firewalls or even just give access to particular software's that you know are safe. hardware fire walls would be applied for devices such as routers which would have its own set of firewall rules.
firewalls for software would be programs that scan and also eradicate issues such as viruses that get through the original firewall (the original firewall which would be scanning software and downloads before they are loaded onto the computer).

Passwords

passwords are used by any site or program that requires the user to create a personal account. passwords would be required to actually enter or gain access to the users account that contains all there in game or on site data as well as account details. password are always meant to capital letters and numbers to make the password harder to guess or decipher.

SSL

SSL means "secure socket layer". SSL gves the internet security on its communication by encoding any data on the sites network connection. any site that uses SSL own a certificate that's how they will show users that they are a safe and secure website to use. a safe websites is obviously more appealing to users.

Terms of use of amazon

These are the terms and conditions for www.amazon.co.uk and it goes through the reasons that your item can change in price and it goes through the different rules for post and packaging this makes it so you can understand what the company will do with your information and why some changes can occur with your order

P1 - M1 - Unit 28

http://computer.howstuffworks.com/internet/basics/internet-infrastructure.htm

Task 1: Deadline Friday 9th May
Understanding of web architecture and components:
Show your understanding of the internet by detailing the various stages and processes that information must pass through to get from server to screen, represent this in a flow diagram with additional notes, you must try to include the following:

Web architecture:
Internet Service Providers (ISP); web hosting services; domain structure; domain name registrars; worldwide web

Components:
hardware eg web, mail and proxy servers; routers; software eg browser, email

ISP

isp stands for internet service provider, they are the ones who will set up internet access that is connected to all of there clients they are all connected through a central hub that connects everyone and provides them with there services. there are many different company that provide these services such as virgin sky and talk talk they will each have packages of different sizes and data for different prices.

Web hosting services

there are many companies that will provide space on their servers for people to host there websites and
this comes at a cost.all data has to be stored somewhere and what the hosting service does is it makes it so people can visit your site and download the data and upload there information this will cost the owner of the site if there go over there data cap and the company will charge to maintain the site a site that i like to use is called hostgator i like this site because they have an easy to use site so everything is easy to understand and they have low prices and all of this with a 99.9% up time so that means that there is next to no chance tnhat your website will go offline

Domain structure

a domain structure is where there are a group of computers which are all linked and have to manage there accounts and security. you would have to use your login and password to get onto this domain and access its servers also you will be able to send and receive data this is helpful when you are using a local network such as a company network so everyone in the building will be connected and be able to have access to information that they may need

Domain name registrar

there are many sites online that you can buy a domain name from one that i personally like is godaddy.com because you can get a domain for 2 years for as little as £5 the domain name is a vital part of a website as this is how people will find your site online and this is the name of your site and only you own the rights to that domain name

Worldwide web

the world wide web is millions and millions of documents that you can access through the internet and you can navigate the internet using search engines like google ask and bing the pages that you visit can have different types of files such as text audio and video you will move between pages one link at a time

Browser

Web browsers are a networks of information resources on the world wide web. A source is identified by a uniform resource identifier mainly seen as a URI, this is a webpage, image, video or any other piece of content available on the web or webpage. the webpage is what lets the user view and send information with ease and it makes it so it is simple and easy to do

Web servers

web servers can be known as hardware as well as a form of software for the computer. because the inter gives internet access to the user it can provide content for the user. this content varies from Facebook and YouTube to many other webpages, webpages deliver using the HTTP. the HTML documents along with any other content is delivered by the use of HTTP.

Router

the router is the external hardware that all computers must connected via wireless or wired to connect to there networking package. the router will split its self among all the other devices connected to the router, it will spread the package in either and efficient way depending on the amount of data needed or it will split the data equally.

Email

Emailing is were two or more people send information / data such as text or images this is done through an email address and everyone with an email adress has a unique one to them so if you have someones email address unless you personally put the information in wrong the onl;y person that can recive that data is the person you intend to.

Web 2.0

Web 2.0 is where web pages changed from html web pages to more interactive webpages that you can link and share other pages to well other internet users. YouTube and Facebook are a good example of websites where people share and link as well as constantly update the webpage. this is considered a more dynamic website which is considered the second generation of websites.

Cloud computing

there are many website that use cloud storage and i personally thing it is a great idea because you can store personal files in a place were you can always have access to them when you need to for example i have drop box this stores my files and only when i put my email and password in i can view and download them so i like to keep useful information such as my cv online so if i ever need it i can have access to it through any computer
